Remember BlizzCon 2023? It feels like just yesterday they gave us that incredible roadmap, and now here we are in 2026, seeing so much of it come to life! I still get excited thinking about the Egyptian mythology season they teased back then. It was a guaranteed hit, right? The Greek god skins were phenomenal, and with existing gems like Bastet Ana and Anubis Pharah, we knew Blizzard had the perfect recipe. So, let's talk about which heroes would be absolutely perfect for some ancient Egyptian flair. Who wouldn't want to see their favorite hero transformed into a deity or a mythical creature?
Orisa as Taweret: The Protector Reimagined
First on my list has to be Orisa. Think about it—her entire purpose is protection, guarding the people of Numbani. Now, who in Egyptian mythology is all about protection? Taweret, the goddess of childbirth and fertility. She's one of the most recognizable figures because of her wild appearance: a giant hippo standing on hind legs, mixed with lion and crocodile features. How cool would it be to see Orisa get a robotic makeover inspired by that? Imagine her Fortify ability surrounded by hieroglyphic energy or her Terra Surge pulling enemies in with sandstorm effects. It would easily become one of her most striking and thematic designs ever.

Ramattra as Set: The God of Chaos Fits Perfectly
As one of the newer tanks, don't you think Ramattra could use more legendary skins? He got that awesome Poseidon skin during the Greek-themed Battle for Olympus event, but an Egyptian theme is his true calling. Enter Set, the god of foreigners, violence, and disorder. I mean, does that not describe Ramattra's whole vibe? He even wields a staff-like weapon, just like Set is often depicted! Since Ramattra is an Omnic, Blizzard could get creative—swap his face for an aardvark-like head (Set is sometimes shown with an animal head) and dress him in regal Egyptian armor. His Nemesis Form could erupt with dark, sandy particles, making him look like a desert storm incarnate. It's a natural and terrifying progression from his base look.
Wrecking Ball as a Sphinx: Because Why Not?
Okay, hear me out. We need to take a break from gods and goddesses for a second and have some fun. Wrecking Ball's mech has been a submarine, a snowman, a pumpkin… so why not a giant Sphinx head? How hilarious would it be to see Hammond rolling around the battlefield inside a stone-cat statue? They could even give Hammond himself a little Nemes headcloth to complete the look. His Grappling Claw could be a stylized ankh, and the Minefield could drop little scarab beetles. It's the kind of silly, creative skin that Overwatch does so well, and it would fit the Egyptian theme perfectly without being too serious.
Reaper as Khonshu: A Match Made in the Afterlife
Now, this one might need a little extra magic (or maybe a collaboration?), but given Blizzard's plans for more crossovers, it's not impossible. Reaper's skull mask and overall aesthetic are a perfect match for Khonshu, the Egyptian moon god often associated with vengeance. Can't you just picture it? A mummy-like wrappings for his outfit, his shotguns redesigned with golden moon symbols, and maybe even a floating bird skull head instead of his usual mask—they already proved floating heads work with the Calavera skin! Every Shadow Step could leave a crescent moon symbol on the ground. It's a match made in heaven, or perhaps the Duat (the Egyptian underworld).
Mercy as Sekhmet: The Lioness of Healing
Some fans have talked about Mercy leaning into Sekhmet's war goddess aspect with a rework, but I think the existing Mercy fits Sekhmet's healing side perfectly. Sekhmet was a goddess of both healing and warfare, often shown with a lioness's head. Mercy's staff wouldn't need much adjustment—just a beautiful redesign with Egyptian motifs. The real showstopper would be that majestic lioness head replacing her usual helmet or hair. Blizzard could go all out, removing the human aspects entirely like they did in some Assassin's Creed designs, making her a truly divine, otherworldly being. Her Valkyrie wings could be feathered like those of Ma'at, and her Resurrect could have a blinding sun-disk animation. Wouldn't that be breathtaking?
Looking back from 2026, it's amazing to see how these themes have evolved. The Mirror Universe and Eldritch Horror seasons were fantastic, but there's something timeless about Egyptian mythology. These skin ideas aren't just cosmetic changes; they're stories waiting to be told on the battlefield. Which hero would you want to see get the pharaoh's treatment next?
